Sesame asparagus with sweet soy dressing

  • 3 bunches asparagus, woody ends trimmed

  • 15g sesame seeds

  • 2 tablespoons thick soy sauce

  • 2 teaspoons water

  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil


  • Step 1

    Cook the asparagus in a steamer basket over a saucepan of boiling water for 4-5 minutes or until bright green and tender crisp (see microwave tip 1).

  • Step 2

    Meanwhile, place sesame seeds in a small non-stick frying pan over medium heat and cook, stirring, for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from heat (see microwave tip 2).

  • Step 3

    Combine the soy sauce, water and oil in a screw-top jar and shake until well combined. Arrange asparagus on serving plates. Drizzle with soy dressing and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
